Membership in the Order of the Founders and Patriots of America is based upon descent, in the male line from either parent, from an ancestor who settled in any of the colonies now included in the United States prior to May 13, 1657, and upon descent from one or more intermediate ancestors in the same line, who lived in the period of the Revolution (1775 to 1783) and adhered as a patriot to the cause of independence. This invaluable work, never before available, is the complete collection of proven lineage records of the nearly 5,000 individuals (known as "Associates") admitted to the Order since its founding in 1896.
For each Associate we are given a date and place of birth, followed in the male line by, on average, nine or ten generations of ancestors, including the Associate's Patriot and Founder ancestors. For each generation in the pedigree, we find the names of the male and female in direct line of descent and, in most cases, their places and dates of birth and death. In all, The Order of the Founders and Patriots of America Register--Lineage of Associates, 1896-1993 identifies nearly 100,000 demonstrable links to our colonial past. An alphabetical index to the nearly 5,000 Associates can be found at the back of the fourth volume.
